The cost of living is high. Food prices are increasing. Gas prices are unaffordable. Health insurance premiums continue to skyrocket. The cost of higher education is expensive. The taxes and fees imposed on home telephone service are more than the charges imposed by the telephone company. Local and state governments claim not to raise taxes, but instead raise fees for services. Rich and poor are struggling to make ends meet. Social security payments have remained stagnant for two years. Too many of us are forced to live on the edge of our incomes. We must find ways to reduce the burdens on families. Government needs to live within its means. Government policies need to support and lift individuals and families out of economic difficulty and into prosperity. Simplifying laws and eliminating unnecessary laws will reduce costs that get passed on to families.

TJ lived in Argentina for almost two years. He has seen poverty and struggle. He has seen hyper-inflation. After this experience, it is easy for him to see how the freedoms guaranteed by our constitution enable us to prosper. We still have struggles and difficulties, but the freedom to choose increases our abilities and our opportunities to overcome our struggles. Our individual prosperity lifts others.
